Last week our pastor, Jim Congdon, shared a challenge from the book One Word That Will Change Your Life.  Since then, I’ve heard others that are using this idea as a springboard for 2014 New Year’s resolutions.  The idea is picking one word to concentrate on in the coming year and asking the Lord to work in our lives to perfect it.

So as I have thought about this elusive word, and prayed about it, the one that won’t leave my mind is………Fix.

It’s not what you think.  Not fix circumstances, as I am prone to do.  Not fix people, which I am really inclined to want to do.  Not fix things, as that is a job for my sweet hubby.  This fix has to do with my thoughts and my heart.  I desire to fix my spiritual “eyes” on Jesus, and let him direct my steps, change my heart and love others as He loves me.  It is tied into focus and attention and staying the course…standing firm in my faith.  So this year, I’m all about fixing!

Hebrews 12:2   Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
